Marriage Compatibility in Vedic Astrology
Jyotish traditions offer several ways to compare birth charts for marriage. These are cultural frameworks for discussion, not a guarantee that a relationship will succeed or fail.
Guna Milan and chart comparison
One familiar North Indian method is Ashtakoota Guna Milan, which compares eight categories and assigns a traditional score. It commonly focuses on the Moon's Nakshatra and Rashi. Other approaches may also consider planetary placements, the ascendant, Venus, Jupiter, and particular chart combinations.
Methods and thresholds vary, and a numerical score does not capture communication, shared values, safety, or the everyday work of a relationship. A chart comparison should explain its method and avoid claiming certainty from one result.
Use astrology without replacing consent
Astrology is not a scientifically validated predictor of marital happiness. A reading should not pressure anyone into or out of a relationship. Consent, mutual respect, honest conversation, and personal choice remain central.
For relationship concerns, consider speaking with a qualified counselor. Astrological compatibility is a traditional interpretive practice, not professional relationship or mental-health advice.
